Privacy Policy
Last updated May 24, 2026
Stenograph is built so that your audio never leaves your device. This policy describes exactly what we collect, store, and transmit — which, in our case, is almost nothing.
What stays on your device
- Audio recordings. Stored in the app's
Documents/recordings/directory. Encrypted at rest by iOS Data Protection. - Transcripts and analysis. Stored in the app's local SwiftData database. Never transmitted.
- Settings and preferences. Stored in the app's local container only.
What we collect
Nothing. There are no accounts. There is no telemetry. There are no analytics SDKs. The app does not contact our servers — we don't have servers.
Network access
The app makes exactly two kinds of network requests, both of which you can audit:
- First-run model download. WhisperKit (the speech recognition engine) downloads its model weights from Hugging Face on first launch. This is a one-time download of model files; no audio or transcript data is sent.
- App Store review link. When you tap “Rate Stenograph” in Settings, the app opens the App Store using a standard system URL.
No other network requests happen. Your audio, transcripts, summaries, and action items never leave your device.
On-device AI
Transcription runs locally via WhisperKit. Speaker labeling runs locally. Analysis (summary, action items, decisions) runs on Apple's on-device Foundation Models. None of these features transmit your data.
Crash reporting
Crash reporting uses Apple's MetricKit framework and is off by default. If you opt in via Settings, anonymized crash diagnostics are delivered to us via Apple's standard mechanism. No audio, transcripts, or content data is included.
Data deletion
Settings → Delete all data removes every recording, transcript, analysis result, and preference. Deleting the app removes everything as well.
Children
Stenograph is not directed to children under 13.
